Not Really a Clone of SimCity, More Like Anno 1602.
LinCity NG (and presumably its predecessor, LinCity, which is so similar that that they can share save files) is purported by some to be a clone of SimCity. But it's really more like the Austrian game Anno 1602 (sold as "1602 A.D." in English-speaking world). The game has resources, warehouses, farms, blacksmiths, and other elements that never appear in any of the SimCity games, at least none that I've ever played. That said, the Anno games are a lot of fun in their own right, so a clone of them might be enjoyable. Though LinCity NG only has, like, seven resources, so it kind of falls down there as well.
Pros:
Anno 1602 was fun, and a free clone of it is a good idea, but this one doesn't really have nearly as many resource types, which I always figured was kind of the point.
Cons:
It's not a clone of SimCity, which is what I was more-or-less intentionally led to believe it was. More
